ChatBukkit fue un Plugin oficial por Bukkit Dev. El equipo continuó y logró crear otros plugins como HeroChat y Essentials.
CraftBukkit
CraftBukkit es el programa que se usa para que se le puedan añadir Plugins. Es una variante del servidor por defecto de Minecraft. Es el único que puede hacerlos funcionar correctamente. Por eso se tiene que tener el CraftBukkit para crear un servidor.
HomeBukkit
HomeBukkit fue un plugin oficial de los desarrolladores, pero fue substituido por Essentials.

Upcoming Plugin API
The Bukkit Team is rumored to be creating a user-friendly way to make mods through the official Minecraft application that are server-usable and are easily obtainable and distributable. This feature is said to be released in an upcoming update.
