Los [[Slimes]] sólo pueden aparecer en chunks específicos, determinados por un cálculo relacionado por las coordenadas de dicho chunk. Hay diversos programas y mods que permiten al jugador en que chunks pueden aparecer.
El renderizado de los chunks se divide en una zona de 16x16x16, los cuales son compilados por OpenGL aumentando significativamente la velocidad de renderizado. Debido a que los errores suelen ser Chunk erroneos temporales donde el cliente Minecraft no pudo cargar una parte, cerrar la sesión y volver a iniciar sesión en es a menudo todo lo que se requiere para fijar una.
